Sri Lanka faces recurring flood disasters during monsoon seasons, displacing thousands of families and destroying homes, crops, and livelihoods within hours. Vulnerable communities living near rivers and low-lying areas bear the brunt of these natural calamities, losing everything they own to rising waters. In the immediate aftermath, families struggle without food, clean water, shelter, or medicine. Children, elderly persons, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses face particularly grave risks. The trauma and devastation of flooding extend far beyond physical damage, leaving communities in desperate need of urgent humanitarian assistance and long-term recovery support.
EverCare’s Emergency Flood Relief Project activates immediately when disasters strike. Our rapid response team coordinates with local authorities, disaster management centers, and community volunteers to assess needs and deliver critical aid. Within 24-48 hours of a flood event, we distribute emergency relief packages containing food supplies, drinking water, medicine, hygiene kits, blankets, clothing, and temporary shelter materials. We establish mobile medical camps to treat injuries and illnesses, provide psychological first aid, and ensure continuity of care for chronic patients. Our relief efforts prioritize the most vulnerable including female-headed households, disabled individuals, and families with young children, ensuring no one is left behind in their hour of greatest need.
Beyond immediate emergency response, our flood relief program supports long-term recovery and rehabilitation. Once floodwaters recede, we provide cleaning supplies and equipment to help families restore their homes. We distribute agricultural inputs like seeds and fertilizers to farmers who lost crops, enabling them to replant and restore their livelihoods. Cash assistance helps families replace essential household items and restart small businesses. We also implement flood preparedness training and community-based disaster risk reduction initiatives, helping vulnerable communities better prepare for and respond to future disasters. Our holistic approach addresses both urgent survival needs and sustainable recovery, helping families rebuild their lives with resilience and hope.
